We took the fire spirit from Murkelmore’s maul and imbued Kephalades’ longsword, then pushed deeper into the fortress, where we found a dozen captive humans and halflings. Their captors were duergar and devils, whom we slew. We released the captives and escorted them back to the Hall; they told us that gnolls had taken two of their number but they knew not where or why.
In the Hall, Boraheen received a message requesting a meeting a little way distant. It was, of course, a trap, but we slew the ambushers and found on them a letter, which promised the bearer gold in exchange for our bodies being delivered to a temple of Baphomet.
At this time Camille realized that our quest would necessarily involve more bloodshed, which conflicted with her pacifist inclination, and she left our party and went her own way.
