The adventurers prepared to perform the ceremony to gain entrance to the inner sanctum. They knew they would face a dragon guardian and some traps to test their mettle before they would be able to move on, so they rested and discussed strategy.
As they all spread out and placed the 4 relics into their own rune circle, the objects were consumed by a fiery white light, and disappeared. The doors in the area flew open, and a deafening roar was heard. Kephalades mu Khao (“Keph”) braced himself as the green beast flew towards him.
Everyone had to move quickly to avoid the doom sphere, a large ball of black magical energy rolling around in a track through the middle of the room, but the group managed to surround the dragon and kill it. The door to the inner sanctum unsealed itself ever so slowly, taking more than a minute to clear more than a few inches, so the adventurers to a short break before moving on into the mist obscuring their next challenge.
In the Inner sanctum, Maldrick Scarmaker was in the middle of a ritual involving sacrificing the two captives the adventurers were here to rescue. The gnoll warlock commanded a group of evistro, a barlgura, and a bonecrusher skeleton to keep the intruders from interrupting his casting.
